How it works?
Four layers (600D Oxford polyester, two PE silver-coated layers and pearl cotton) wrap the hive body to block cold wind and slow heat loss through the hive walls.
Which size do I need?
Both sizes fit 8-frame and 10-frame Langstroth hives. Standard (21.1" x 17.5" x 18.1") covers two deep boxes. Extended (21.1" x 17.5" x 24.8") covers taller stacks, e.g. a super plus two deeps.
Can I reuse it?
Yes. Wipe it down in spring, fold it flat and store it for next winter.
Your Bees Burn Less Honey
In winter, bees cluster together and burn stored honey to make heat. The colder and windier it gets, the more honey they burn.
Four insulating layers slow heat loss and block the cold wind that pulls warmth out of the hive walls, so the cluster stays warm with less effort and has more stores left for late winter.

Winter Protection Without Foam Boards or Tar Paper
Wrap it around the hive body, press the wide Velcro seam closed and clip the 2 buckle straps. No cutting foam, stapling tar paper or taping seams.
A 600D Oxford polyester shell, two PE silver-coated layers and a pearl cotton core block cold wind and slow heat loss through the hive walls, so the colony holds its heat.
Rain, snow and wind stay off the hive walls. One fitted wrap covers the whole hive body, with no taped foam seams to shift or leave gaps in a storm.
Standard (18.1" tall) covers two deep boxes. Extended (24.8" tall) covers taller stacks, such as a super plus two deeps. Both are 21.1" x 17.5" and fit 8-frame and 10-frame Langstroth hives.
In spring, wipe it down, fold it flat and store it on a shelf. No bulky foam boards to keep for the rest of the year.
